Obituary for Bernardo "Ben" E. Diaz

Ben's sunrise into this world was March 15, 1960. His sunset was Friday July 27, 2018.
As a young boy, he was full of mischief and adventure, and being the 4th of 8 children he found plenty of it!
By trade he was a furniture repair technician for Value City Furniture, but the job he loved most was being Papa to his grandson, Logan "Buddy Boy." Nothing made "Papa" happier than hanging out with "Buddy Boy," watching Godzilla movies or playing chess or Battleship. Ben also enjoyed watching Ohio State Football with his son Ben, and crime shows and documentaries with his brother, Lorenzo.
Ben had a great sense of humor and enjoyed spinning tall tales and pranking family and friends. He was also "the voice of Kitty Sue," his feline friend, translating her thoughts.
Left to laugh and share hilarious stories are his wife, Karen; son, Ben (BJ); brother and best friend, Lorenzo; brothers, Chris and Jimmy; sisters, Cindy, Diane, Tonya, Roggie, Gina, and Josie; favorite grandson in the world, Logan; in-laws, Dave, John, Alison, Maria, and Elizabeth Carr; his side kick, Kitty Sue; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Larry Diaz and DeLores Montgomery; in-laws, Donald and Bernadette Carr; sisters, Becky and Suzie; brothers, Todd and Bucky.
Family and friends may visit Friday August 3, 2018 from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the David R. Jasin-Hoening Funeral Home, 5300 N. Summit St. Toledo, Ohio. A funeral service will be held Saturday August 4, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home, Mary Jo Zeizloft will be funeral facilitator. Entombment will follow afterwards at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
Special thanks to Toledo Fire & Rescue and the angels who provided stellar care of Ben at St. Vincent Hospital.
Memorial donations may be given to a charity of the donor's choice.
