Obituary for Betty L. Schlotterbeck

Betty L. Schlotterbeck, 89, of Defiance, Ohio passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at her home.



Betty was born on September 8, 1928 to Lyle Robert and Bessie Marie (Eitniear) Weaver of Defiance. On June 29, 1947 she married the love of her life, Richard C. Schlotterbeck, who preceded her in death on March 15, 2005.  Betty and Richard owned and operated Fruit Ridge Market in Defiance. They shared many great memories together.



Betty liked to read. She loved her dogs and enjoyed spoiling them as much as she could. The one thing Betty loved the most was her grandchildren and getting to spend time with them. Betty was known for saying “I’m 89 years old, you’ll have that”. It always brought a smile to everyone’s face. She was a joy to be around. Betty was loved by all and will be dearly missed.



Betty is survived by her children; Jane (Charlie) Meyer, Jean (John) Jacques, Vicky (Bill) Healy and Rick (Deb) Schlotterbeck. She was also survived by; ten grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.



She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, loving parents and great-grandson, Zachary Jacques.



A Celebration of Betty’s Life will be held on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at St. John Lutheran Church of Defiance (655 Wayne Ave.) at 11 a.m. The family is under the care of Snyder-Hoening Funeral Home of Holgate.



Memorials in Betty’s memory may be made to the family under the care of the funeral home (209 North Wilhelm St. Holgate, Ohio 43527).
