Obituary for Burnice V. Agler

Burnice V. Agler, 96, passed away on November 29, 2017 at Laurels of Defiance. She was born on March 11, 1921, the daughter of John and Lena (Hoffert) Pfahlert. She was a 1941 graduate of Defiance High School. Burnie was a U.S. Navy Wave veteran, serving during World War II at the Naval Air Technical Training Center in Norman, Oklahoma. She married Russell "Dewey" Agler in April of 1966 and he preceded her in death in 2002. Burnie worked as the Records Recorder at Defiance College for 25 years, retiring in 1983. She was an active member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Napoleon, a member of the Women's Circle, and served in many capacities over the years.
She is survived by her sister, Martha Cooper; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Russell "Dewey" Agler; sisters, Doris Scheuerman and Francis Kimberly; and brothers, Kenneth, Edward, and Robert Pfahlert,
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, December 4, 2017 at Walker-Hoening Mortuary, 333 West Main Street, Napoleon. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Napoleon, Pastor James Castello officiating. Visitation at the church will begin at 10 a.m. until the time of services. Burial with military honors will follow at Glenwood Cemetery. Memorial donations are suggested to Emanuel Lutheran Church.
