Obituary for Ruth M. Wanous

Ruth Marie (Freese) (Seem) Wanous, 90, died peacefully on Wednesday, September 5th, 2018, at her home - Otterbein Village of Pemberville, Ohio. Ruth was born on August 27th, 1928, in Fall City, Nebraska, the daughter of Fred C. Freese and Ruth M. DeTrow, both of whom preceded her in death.

Ruth was a 1946 graduate of Arcadia High School. She raised five daughters and taught them how to be good people, to care for a home, to love reading and education and to have a strong work ethic. She was a great cook and baker, especially pies. Ruth worked for Western Union, Autolite, Secretary Treasurer for the Village of Helena, Singer Controls, and then retired from Atlas Crankshaft.

Ruth was a member of the Red Hats Society and volunteered at the Fostoria Hospital. She enjoyed dancing, fishing, reading, sewing and knitting. Ruth attended High Street United Methodist Church of Fostoria and knew Jesus as her personal Savior.

Ruth is survived by her sister, Dorothy Riser of Fostoria, Ohio; daughters Cate Seem-Ruggier of Portland, Oregon, Mary (John) Schuett of Gibsonburg, Ohio, Lesa (Bob) Bowman of Milan, Michigan, Debbie Seem (Phil Smith) of Bethesda, Maryland, Gail (Miguel) Montes of Sand City, California, and stepson Dana Wanous of Wauseon, Ohio; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 24 years, Donald J. Wanous, brother Richard Freese, and great-grandson John Samuel Schuett.

A memorial celebration of Ruth’s life will be held at the Trinity Chapel located at 252 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, Ohio, on Saturday, September 22nd, at 11am. A meal will be shared.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E. River Rd., Perrysburg, Ohio, 43551.
