Obituary

 

Margie E. Gehring, 91, of Fostoria, passed away at 9:50 am Friday June 23, 2017 at Independence House, Fostoria.

She was born October 19, 1925 in Columbus to the late Henry A. and Myrtle V. (Wrightsman) Finch. She married Joseph L. Gehring on July 18, 1953 at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria and he died November 2, 2002.

Surviving is a son, Michael (Patti) Gehring, Perrysburg; and a grandson, Mathew (Jordan Heiliger) Gehring, Brookville. She was also preceded in death by sons, Danny and Jeffrey Gehring; daughters, Kathleen, Mary Alice and Ann Marie Gehring; and a sister, Mary Smith.

Margie graduated from Fostoria High School and earned an associate’s degree from Tiffin University. She retired from the former Copeland Corp., Fostoria in 1984 and was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church and its Memorial Choir. She was a member and past officer of the Daughters of Isabella and 55 Plus Club. She organized D of I card flights for many years, volunteered at Fostoria Community Hospital gift shop for 23 years and delivered meals on wheels.

Visitation is Tuesday June 27, 2017 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at HOENING FUNERAL HOME 242 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria where a Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 pm.

Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 am Wednesday at St. Wendelin Catholic Church with Rev. Walter Tuscano presiding. Burial will follow in St. Wendelin Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to St. Wendelin Church and School.

Matt and Mike, You and your families have the prayers and sympathies of our family on the loss of your mother and grandmother.I remember visiting with her when I would ride my bike over to play baseball with Jeff in the yard next to the old tracks.
