Obituary for Alfred Chesler, D.D.S.

Alfred Chesler, D.D.S., 83, of Holgate, passed away at 1:00 p.m. Thursday February 7, 2019 at Vancrest of Holgate.

He was born on February 14, 1935 in Elyria, Ohio to the late Robert and Dorothy (Freed) Chesler.

Surviving are his children, Richard Chesler, Holgate, Diane (Neil) Britten, Edmond Oklahoma, and Robert Chesler, Strafford Missouri; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Earl Chesler, Gertrude Chesler, David Chesler, Lillian Maloney and Nelson Chesler.

Alfred was a Captain in the United States Air Force where he was a competitive swimmer and dentist. Following his service in the Air Force he obtained his own private pilot commercial license. He received a B.S. in Dental Science and Biology and later earned his D.D.S. from the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery. He had a private dental practice in Oklahoma City for 35 years and was also licensed in Missouri. Alfred was also an avid sports car driver and motorcyclist. He once took a 5,000 mile motorcycle trip from Oklahoma City to British Columbia.

Services for Alfred will be private for the family.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Snyder-Hoening Funeral Home, 209 N. Wilhelm Street, Holgate.
