Obituary for Dorothy Jean Fahy

Dorothy J. Fahy, 93, of Napoleon, died on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at Northcrest Rehabilitation and Nursing Center of Napoleon. She was born on February 1, 1926 in Defiance, Ohio, the daughter of Zerah and Florence (Keller) Hammon. On March 2, 1946 she married Carl "Bob" Fahy and he preceded her in death on October 5, 1984.
Dorothy taught exercise classes at the Henry County Senior Center from 1988-2016. At age 90 she retired and received the Key to the City of Napoleon for being the oldest paid employee of the city. She won three Gold, one Silver, and two Bronze medals in the 50 plus Sports Classic. A member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, she served on the funeral dinner committee and sang in its choir. She was a Eucharistic minister for nursing home residents, participated in Meals on Wheels through the church and was on the festival committee for the annual Turtle Fest. She was an active volunteer with the American Red Cross Bloodmobile for years. Dorothy could be seen walking around town everyday and that is how many recognized and will remember her. She was a kind, loving spirit and will be dearly missed.
She is survived by four sons, Terry (Betty) of Tega Cay, South Carolina, John (Julie) of Liberty Center, Thomas (Angie) of Napoleon, and Matthew (Samantha) of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Two daughters, Sue Sauber and Laura Kovar both of Napoleon, Ohio. Nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call at the Walker-Hoening Mortuary Napoleon (333 W. Main St.) on Monday, April 22, 2019 from 2 p.m. through 8 p.m. with recitation of the rosary at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Augustine Catholic Church (210 E.
