Obituary for Eleonore Edna Glanz

Eleonore (Elling) Glanz, 90, of Cedarbrook Ave., Napoleon, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, June 26, 2019.
She was born on October 29, 1928, the daughter of Albert and Ida (Spoering) Elling. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. As her parents moved often, she attended a one room school house; Liberty Center & Ridgeville Schools, and also St. Paul’s Lutheran. She graduated from Napoleon High School in 1945, the youngest in her class at age 16.
After graduation she was asked by Mr. Titus, Principal at Napoleon High School, to be his secretary. She held that position for three school years; in the summer working as a secretary in an attorney’s office, and at the Napoleon egg auction.

On February 1, 1948, Eleonore was married at St. Augustine in Napoleon, to Roland “Ron” Glanz, and moved to Toledo. There she became Executive Secretary at Dana Corporation to advertising manager, sales manager, and last position to Chairman of the Board. In between stints at Dana, Eleonore had two families. First was a son, a daughter, and twin sons. Back to work at Dana. Ten years later, Eleonore and Roland were blessed with two more daughters and a son.
Then it was time for a move to Hawaii where she studied and became a realtor. However, she was always most proud of her family and children. Eventually a move back to Napoleon and her “roots.”
Brothers Paul, Rudy, and Alfred, and a sister, Alma, preceded her in death.
Eleonore and her husband enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Florida.
Roland preceded her in death in November of 2013.
Surviving are sons, Gary (Diane), of Redmond, WA, Kevin Glanz, of Napoleon, Alan Glanz, of East Lansing, MI. A son Keith died in 1998 at the age of 43.

Also surviving are daughters, Ava (Chuck) Stanford, of Scottsdale, AZ, Maria (Ken) Judd, of Vashon Island, WA, Julia Glanz, Graton, CA; grandchildren, Melissa (Quintin) Doroquez, of Redmond, WA, Brian (Mohini ) Glanz, of Seattle, WA, Erica ( Erik) Kachmarsky, of Redmond, WA, Thomas Glanz, of Redmond, WA, Kristen Stanford, of Scottsdale, AZ, Julie (Scott) Sanders, of Scottsdale, AZ, William DeGroot, of Graton, CA, and Finn Judd, of Vashon Island, WA; great- grandchildren, Michael Rance, of Chicago, IL, Avery and Grace Kachmarsky, of Pasadena, CA, Dylann and Brody Sanders, of Scottsdale, AZ, and Maya Glanz, of Seattle, WA.
Additional survivors include sisters, Louise Fahringer, of Napoleon, and Lorna Hausch, of Wauseon.

Eleonore was such a caring person to everyone she knew, even up to her last days. She was interested in people’s lives and grateful for their friendship. Nothing made her happier than interacting with others- her family, her friends, and her parish family. She was always optimistic, and her strong faith in God served her well. She will be greatly missed and cherished. At Eleonore’s request, memorial contributions may be considered to St. Augustine School and Church.
