Louise H. Podach, 84, of Fostoria, passed away at 3:58 pm Wednesday March 6, 2019 at ProMedica Toledo Hospital.
She was born January 26, 1935 in Wyandot County to the late Charles E. and Rose M. (Fox) Collet. She married Florian G. Podach October 23, 1954 at Our Lady of Consolation, Carey and he survives in Fostoria.
Also surviving is a son, Joseph G. (Jan) Podach, Westlake; daughter, Carol Shafer, Upper Sandusky; two grandsons, Eric Shafer and Joseph Podach; along with many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa; sisters, Dorothy Frankart and Margaret Welly; and brothers, Walter, Clarence and Eugene Collet.
Louise was a farm wife and past co-owner of Podach Mobile Estates, Fostoria. In earlier years she had worked at Swan Rubber Co., Carey. She was a 1953 graduate of Carey High School and a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria. She had served on the Jackson Go-Fer’s Farm Council and was a community volunteer. She also had been a member of the Catholic Ladies of Columbia, Seneca County Farm Bureau and served on the Jackson Township Zoning Appeals Board.
Visitation is Sunday March 10, 2019 from 2-5 & 6-8 pm at HOENING & SON FUNERAL HOME 133 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria where a Vigil for the Deceased will take place at 7:30 pm.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 am Monday at St. Wendelin Catholic Church with Rev. Todd Dominique presiding. A Rosary will be prayed 10 am at the church. Burial will follow in St. Wendelin Catholic Cemetery. A lunch and gathering will then be held in the parish hall of the church.
Memorials are suggested to the Kansas Volunteer Fire Department or St. Wendelin Church.
