Obituary for Michael J. Kramb

Michael J. Kramb, 68, of Fostoria, passed away at 3:17 pm Saturday October 19, 2019 at Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria.

He was born June 6, 1951 in Fostoria to the late William J. “Bill” and Maxine I. (Keiffer) Kramb. He married Frances (Bulkowski) Miles in 1970, they later divorced and she survives in Fostoria. Michael married Brenda K. Bennett April 6, 2002 at St. Wendelin Catholic Church and she survives in Fostoria.

He leaves behind his children, Gillian L. (Andrew) Thaxton, Myrtle Beach, SC, Andrea L. (Russ) Simmons, Bloomdale, Ryan M. (Joanna) Kramb, Findlay and Matthew D. Kramb, Findlay; his grandchildren, Hunter, Jacob and Samantha Thaxton, Owen, Courtney, Brooke and Josh Simmons, Alexis Kramb, Tyler Robinson and Adilyn Kramb; his two step-children, Christine Cole, Fostoria and Robyn (Mark) Cherichetti, South Daytona Beach, Fl; his two step-grandchildren, Cory Gwiner and Amanda Flaherty; and his brothers and sisters, Diane (Jerry) Niswander, Stephen Kramb, Anthony (Martina) Kramb, Nancy (the late Ernie) Sparks, Teresa (Kevin) Frederick all of Fostoria and Angela (Phillip) Sallisbury, Findlay. He was preceded in death by twin brothers, Peter and Paul Kramb (1957).

Michael was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church and attended St. Wendelin’s Elementary School and in 1969 graduated from Divine Word Seminary, Perrysburg. He retired in 1999 from Atlas as a machinist after 30 years of service. He then retired in 2013 from GSW, Findlay as a design engineer.

Michael was a member of the Fostoria American Legion, Amvets, Eagles and Moose where he was a current trustee. As a pilot, his favorite labor of love was spending time in his garage building an airplane. He loved to be in the air, and also owned a plane that he spent time flying. He was a member of Airplane Enthusiasts, and the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA). He was also a volunteer for the STEM program at St. Wendelin High School and recognized at Fostoria Municipal Airport for helping the students build a light weight aircraft. He enjoyed woodworking, and traveling internationally with his wife and family.

Michael will be fondly remembered as a very caring and giving husband, father, and friend. He was so proud of his grandchildren and loved spending time with them. He was loved and will be dearly missed.

Visitation is Wednesday October 23, 2019 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at HOENING & SON FUNERAL HOME 133 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria where a Christian Wake service will be held at 7:30 pm.

Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 am Thursday at St. Wendelin Catholic Church with Rev. Todd Dominique presiding. A Rosary will be prayed 10 am at the church. Burial will follow in St. Wendelin Cemetery and luncheon will follow at the Fostoria Moose Lodge.

Memorials are suggested to St. Wendelin Catholic Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
