Obituary for Ta Chanyaphong

Ta Chanyaphong, age 73, of Fostoria, passed away Thursday, July 18, 2019 at Bridge Hospice Care Center in Bowling Green. He was born January 15, 1946 in Sayaboury, Laos to Yord and Keo Chanyaphong.
Ta served in the Laos National Army who were allies of the United States during the Vietnam Conflict. He left Laos with his family in 1983 and eventually sought refuge in the United States, immigrating to New Iberia, LA in 1986. Ta enjoyed fishing, gardening and playing card games. Above all, he loved to spend time with his family and friends.
Ta is survived by his children, Khamsouk “Susan” (Tony) Lanagan, Khamput (Than) Chanyaphong, Keo Chanyaphong, and Chanthee (Thomas) Smith; sister, Bun Chanyaphong in Laos; brother-in-law, Kham Nimnaun (Yenh); grandchildren, Sydney, Shawn, Mali, Aiden, Thomas Jr. and Grey; great-granddaughters, Taryn and Tavanh; and nieces and nephews, Xomoh, Cody, Phat, Tib, Saengla, Inhkham, Thoong, and Tandee. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Vanh Chanyaphong; a sister; and nephew, Put.
Funeral ceremonies will be held at Mann-Hare-Hoening Funeral Home on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at 2 p.m. Guests are encouraged to arrive prior to 2 p.m. in preparation for the traditional Buddhist Ceremony.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Bridge Hospice.
