Obituary for Scott Keith Murray

Scott Keith Murray, 58, of Punta Gorda, Florida, formerly of Fostoria, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at Bayfront in Punta Gorda.

Scott was born on October 22, 1959, in Fostoria, Ohio to the late Dr. James and Norma (Jones) Murray.

A former member of the U.S. Navy SEALs, Scott re-entered civilian life following his military career as a Historic Shipwreck Recovery and Salvage diver for Mel Fisher’s Treasures in Key West, Florida. He moved from Key West to Punta Gorda following his retirement

Scott is survived by his brother, Stuart Murray; a niece, Shana E. Hancock; a nephew, Dalton James Murray; a grand-niece, Harloh Hancock, and grand-nephew, Ashtin Hancock, and extended family members.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents, James and Norma Murray, a brother, Jimmy Murray, and a sister, Lindsay Elizabeth Murray.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday February 24, 2018 at the First Presbyterian Church, 201 W. Fremont Street, Fostoria, with the Rev. David Bartley presiding.

Military Honors will be rendered by the United Veterans of Fostoria. Following the military honors, all are welcome to a luncheon and gathering in the church parish hall.

Hoening & Son Funeral Home, 133 W. Tiffin Street, Fostoria is handling the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Church or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
