Obituary for Myron L. "Lowell" Baker

Myron "Lowell" Baker, 76, of Fostoria, passed away Friday, Feb. 9, 2018, at Bowling Green Manor, Bowling Green.
He was born Nov. 19, 1941, in Marion, to Clarence Andrew and Mildred Leona (Covert) Baker. He married Sharlene (Bond) July 24, 2004 and she survives in Fostoria.
Also surviving are his two children, Machelle Baker of Columbus and David (Cindy) Baker of Portage and their mother, Judy (Tom) Schafer of Fostoria; two stepchildren, Kimberly Paxton of Benton Ridge and Kenneth Graves of Mount Blanchard; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Yvonne (Tom) Puffenbarger of Venice, Florida and Carolyn Alford of Fort Wayne, Indiana; two sisters-in-law, Gianna Baker of Ocala, Florida and Cindy Lance of Yuma, Arizona; three brothers-in law, Gene Day of Bryan, Dick Woodruff of Daytona, Florida and Bud (Sally) Bond of Orlando, Florida and faithful companions, Chihuahuas, Poncho and Gracie May.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Wayne Baker and three sisters, Jean Niswander, Joyce Kummer and Esther Mae Day.
Lowell was a graduate of Beaufort High School, Beaufort, South Carolina. He was a millwright by trade, having worked for Cooper Tire & Rubber Company in Findlay, and formerly Roppe Corporation and Atlas Crankshaft in Fostoria.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, small game hunting, trapping, berry picking, morel mushroom picking, and gardening, not always just for the pleasure of it, but for bringing home food for the family table. And, he loved to cook to fill that table. While in the wilderness he also enjoyed searching for and finding arrowheads. Lowell was a talented and gifted handyman and builder as well.
Lowell was a thoughtful, understanding, and giving man. The "smartest and toughest" man and father. A "go-to man", a "go-getter". He was clever and quick-witted, and adored his children.
Visitation will take place 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018 and 10-11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 16, at Mann-Hare-Hoening Funeral Home, 407 N. Countyline St., Fostoria, OH.
His funeral will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 16, at the funeral home with the Rev. Donald Goodwin presiding. Committal services and burial will take place immediately following in Seneca Memory Gardens, Tiffin.
