Obituary for Paul W. Williams

Paul Wallace Williams, 91, of Fostoria, passed away on June 27, 2018.
He was born on June 18, 1927 in Highland Park, Michigan to the late Nelson W. and Sylvia (Bowen) Williams. He married his beautiful bride of 71 years, Virginia “Genny” H. Trimble on June 27, 1947 in Bowling Green, Ohio and she survives him in Fostoria.
He was a loving father to his daughter, Rebecca (Becky) Williams, of Findlay, and son Steven Paul (Johanna) Williams, of Fostoria; cherished grandfather to three grandchildren, Lee (Chris) Nagy, David Lawrence (Lynsi) Clinger and Cameron Paul Clinger; and proud great grandfather to Elizabeth Summer Reineck, Dailyn Marie and Conrad James Clinger; and one sister, Martha J. Williams, of Temperance, MI. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Nelson C. Williams and George R. Williams, and one sister, Mary Counterman and a grandson Kyle Williams Clinger.
Paul proudly served his Country as a U.S. Navy Veteran having served in WWII, for which we will forever be a grateful nation. He was a life member of the USS Delta Shipmates Association of which he and Genny enjoyed traveling to the Navy Reunions. Paul was a Plank Member of US Navy Memorial Foundation. He was also a life member of the Fostoria VFW #421 and the American Legion #0073. Other member ships included the UAW Local # 533, Bowling Green Eagles #2180 and life member of the Findlay Elks Lodge # 75. He was the recipient of the American Legion Certificate of School Award.
Paul was a Cygnet, Ohio councilman and Cygnet class president in 1945. He attended Cedar Creek Church. Paul worked for 34 years at Autolite and then began his second career for Mann-Hare Funeral Home and the current Mann-Hare-Hoening Funeral Home for nearly 33 years.
Paul and Genny enjoyed traveling extensively and visited 48 States. Paul enjoyed a good game of poker but prohibited wild cards at the table. If his family needed a mint or an ink pen they could depend on Paul to have one in his pocket. Paul was charming, funny, a great tease, and a rock for his family. His work ethic and integrity has left their mark on both his children and grandchildren.

He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. The family wishes to thank the Staff and Volunteers of Bridge Hospice for their compassionate care and Doctor Fondessy and staff.

Visitation will be held from 2 until 5 pm on Sunday, July 1, 2018 at MANN-HARE-HOENINGFUNERAL HOME, 407 N. Countyline St Fostoria. Funeral services will begin at 11 am on Monday, July 2, 2018 in the funeral home, Rev. Donald Goodwin, presiding. Burial will follow in Wingston, Pleasant View Cemetery, Rudolph, Ohio.
