Obituary for Dorothy Phyllis Brink

Dorothy Phyllis Brink, 98, of Genoa, and formerly of Fostoria, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, June 29, 2018, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg Center, with her daughter by her side.
She was born August 13, 1919 in Van Wert, Ohio, to Thomas Ulysses and Elnora Rebecca (Givens) Baxter. She married Lewis Ernest Brink on July 11, 1947 in Fostoria, and he preceded her in death in 1983.
Surviving Dorothy is her daughter, Janis (James) Lohberger, of Genoa; six grandchildren, Jeff (Cheryl), Mark (Cheryl), and Alysia Brink, and Annette, David, and Matthew (Linda) Lohberger; 10 great-grandchildren, Kevin, Cody, Hunter, Alexis, Peyton, Hudson, Jocelyn, Caitlyn, and Avery Brink; and Gabriel Lohberger; one great-great granddaughter, Alayah Brink; and a daughter-in-law, Patricia Burk-Brink. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Jerry Brink.
Dorothy was a 1937 Van Wert High School graduate. She went on to study at Bowling Green State University, where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. She taught in Jackson Liberty Schools in Amsden, and also in Wauseon and in Kansas short term before teaching at Fostoria City Schools from 1945-1980 before retiring.
Dorothy was a member of Encounter Church in Fostoria. She was a former member of Wesley1 United Methodist Church and New Hope Four Square Church, where she was a member of the Four Square Women International and taught Sunday school.
Visitation will be held from 10 am until 12 noon on Monday, July 9, 2018 at MANN-HARE-HOENING Funeral Home, 407 N. Countyline Street, Fostoria. Funeral services will take place in the funeral home immediately following visitation, Pastor David Burdick, presiding. Burial will follow in Fountain Cemetery, Fostoria.
